The new Mr & Mrs Nelson
Posted on 24 March 2018
Yesterday’s blushing bride, Claire, enjoyed having her friends and family around her as she prepared for the big day in the Cartshed Lodge. She emerged in her beautiful ivory dress with delicate beading detail (perfect to catch the light from the early spring sunshine) followed by her lovely bridesmaids in full length grey dresses.
We waited eagerly as the ceremony took place at Acle Church and it was soon time to welcome guests back to Southwood Hall with a glass of fizz. Kris and Claire were blessed with blue skies and guests took full advantage as they headed round to the terrace to enjoy a selection of canapes and more drinks.
Bubble machines on the lawn provided entertainment for the ‘children’ (and just happen to be one of Claire’s favourite things!).
The barn was decorated with a colour palette of ivory, grey and navy blue – beautiful for the time of year. Hessian bunting with twinkly fairy lights hung throughout by stylists KWF added to the overall scheme and as guests took their seats, there were more bubbles as favours!
The starter and main course of our couple’s wedding breakfast were served followed by a choice of either plum frangipane tart or chocolate and salted caramel tart for dessert. A perfectly seasonal menu!
It was soon time for more fizz ready for the speeches before Father of the Bride proceeded to present Claire with a series of gifts all reminiscent of memories from her childhood, evoking a range of emotions across the room. Kris had some heartfelt words for his new wife and his little brother stepped up to the plate with the best man duties and gave a great speech too.
With the speeches at a close and more friends arriving to join the celebrations, guests took a minute to sign the personalised guest book for our newlyweds and to grab a brownie bite.
Guests gathered to watch our bride and groom cut their wedding cake which, in a break with tradition, was made of huge rounds of cheese. People were encouraged to dive into it alongside a yummy hog roast. The delicious food along with flip flops as a treat for aching feet ensured that the dance floor was full all night. The only brief interruption was at midnight to welcome in the Father of the bride’s birthday with a special cake complete with candle!
Mr and Mrs Nelson, we hope you enjoy your honeymoon in the Caribbean and wish you every happiness in your married life together x x
