The new Mr & Mrs Clouting!

Posted on 31 May 2019

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Clouting! We loved hosting Chelsea and Jaspers big day yesterday at Southwood Hall.

Our lovely Bride and Groom had always hoped to hold their ceremony under the garden rotunda but with the weather so changeable on Thursday we were not sure it would be on our side. We are so pleased that the clouds parted and the sun shone down ready for their ceremony. Chelsea and her beautiful bridesmaids made their way down the aisle to greet her adoring groom and future husband, Jasper.

During the ceremony guests heard readings from the mother of the bride and a close friend before Jasper’s younger sister played a stunning piece on her clarinet. It was beautiful, to their guests watched on in awe and enjoyed the relaxing sound whilst the bride and groom signed the register.

After the new Mr & Mrs Clouting came down the aisle they helped themselves to a cool beverage from the terrace cooler, mingled with their friends and family and were snapped with their friends and family. Guests enjoyed the canapés Chef had been busy preparing whilst KWF’s retro dance machine and a ‘beer pong’ table that the Bride and Groom had set up provided plenty of entertainment causing some competition that we believe our guests were more than willing to get their teeth into ??.

Inside the barn had been decorated with subtle touches of hessian and brightly coloured flowers. The wild flowers had been chosen as a special touching tribute to a very important lady, Fiona. Hessian chair sashes that tied the whole scheme together beautifully. Guests admired the decor as they found their seats before James took to the floor to introduce the newlyweds into the room to the sounds of Elton John.

It was now time for the wedding breakfast to commence! Our Chefs had been super busy working away in the kitchen to prepare a three course sharing menu. For starter they enjoyed table shared “best of Norfolk” mezze boards making the most of local produce featuring Cromer crab cakes and chefs own Broadland salt beef!

For main guests enjoyed Southwood’s tradition when a guest from each table were dressed in chefs hats and aprons ready to colllect a joint of beef from the kitchen to carve for their fellow diners at the table. Finally, for dessert our mezze boards made another appearance but this time full of delicious naughtiness like chocolate fudge cake, lemon roulade and apple tart - yum !! The perfect meal to share with friends whilst chattering and enjoying the day.

With full stomachs and high spirits in the air a toast of Prosecco was poured in anticipation for the speeches! James hilariously introduced everybody, warming up the room perfectly. The speeches were started by one very proud dad, John, who said some touching words about the gorgeous bride (all 5ft of her ;)) and his new son in law. We then heard from the Groom who had the room laughing and joking before saying some touching words about Chelsea. He then passed over to maid of honour, Charlotte and finally the grooms brother and best man, Simon gave a hilarious speech.

After formalities had been completed guests made their way outside to make the most of the glorious evening. The cattle on the meadow must’ve been enjoying the company as they were all stood at the fence having a nosey as to what was going on - so cute! After a few more games of beer pong, competitive dance moves and a relax to enjoy each other’s company our Bride & Groom made their way inside to cut the cake. This was not just any cake, this was a Southwood cheese cake! Guests gathered around as the happy couple sliced into a wheel of Brie to complete the old tradition.

There was no rest for the hardworking Chefs yesterday. Outside the pizza oven was fired up and the ultimate sweetie fix was put out so guests could choose between the cheese cake, pizzas, doughnuts, sweets, s’mores, popcorn & candy floss. What more could you ask for?!

Guests made the most of the light evening outside before taking to the dance floor to party and celebrate with our in house DJ!

We really enjoyed helping you celebrate yesterday Chelsea and Jasper, we hope you have the most amazing life together as the new Mr & Mrs Clouting. We are sure it’ll be one full of fun and adventure and hope you stay in touch ??.
