Simply purrrfect day for Ria & Frankie

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting the wedding of the new Mrs & Mrs Ewles-Giles!!
Ria and Frankie adorned Coronation Barn with lots of gorgeous personal touches they had created over a very busy weekend. We loved their hoop and ribbon frame complete with Polaroid photos of the two of them and their pink and grey pom poms hanging from the beams. The look was completed by KWF who added hessian bunting and fairy lights, a hessian and organza backdrop curtain and their ‘MRS & MRS’ light up letters to bring the scheme together.
Nerves were being kept at bay in the Cartshed Lodge as our two Brides, ten(!!) Bridesmaids and two little Page Boys completed their preparations for the big day whilst guests were being greeted into the barn with a glass of Prosecco or elderflower presse??.
With hair and make up in place it was soon time for our blushing Brides and bridal party to make their way to Coronation Barn for the all-important vows.
Following a very beautiful and touching ceremony (with only a few tears!) guests mingled on the rear lawns and made use of Ria and Frankie’s DIY photo booth in the gardens whilst the children (and a few adults) had fun on the bouncy castle!
Our animal-loving couple were escorted to meet our cattle on the meadow and were the first visitors to our intrigued new calves before heading into the barn for their wedding breakfast. Keeping animals at the forefront of their day guests’ tables were named after their cats; Saffi, Blu, Cassio, Maggie, and Olivia and their top table was named after their little hamster Hazel. Tables were decorated with dainty vases displaying sprigs of gypsophila, alongside little candles which were placed to create the perfect setting for an intimate wedding breakfast.
Guests were seated and the new Mrs & Mrs Ewles-Giles were welcomed into the room just in time for Chef to serve a delicious choice menu of Seared Cod, crushed potatoes with leek and pea ragout; Puy lentil, wild mushroom and caramelised onion Wellington or Risotto Verdi with shaved parmesan and rocket – the perfect pescatarian menu! Dessert shortly followed which certainly satisfied everybody with a sweet tooth!
A glass of Prosecco was poured for each guest ahead of John, Ria’s Dad, making the first speech of the afternoon. You really could tell that he is so proud of his daughter & her new wife!! Julie, Frankie’s Mum, followed with some touching words about the newly-weds and how lucky she is to have another daughter??. To complete the formalities we heard from Rosie and Alex who were full of tales about how our two gorgeous Bride’s met.
As guests spilled out onto the terrace to soak up the evening sun more guests arrived to get the party started. It was clear from the moment that Ria and Frankie booked their big day with us that pizzas were a non-negotiable decision! So of course, our wood-fired pizza oven was roaring and ready to go for Chef to cook our guests their personalised pizza’s!
Our Brides’ cats made another appearance on the day as little figurines on the cake - a purrfect way to include them! Guests gathered around to watch the cake cutting, and afterwards watched our two Brides take to the dancefloor for their first dance as Wife & Wife! Our house DJ kept everyone on the dancefloor providing some classic dance songs to keep everybody entertained??.
Ria and Frankie, it has been a pleasure getting to know you over the last couple of years (and hearing all about your little animals??). All of us at Southwood Hall wish you both a lifetime of adventure, happiness and love together as the new Mrs & Mrs Ewles! xx
