Mr & Mrs Wassell

Posted on 28 April 2018

It was clear from the beginning of our planning journey that family is very important to Sophie and Luke and as they got married yesterday they started as they mean to go on with family at the centre of proceedings.

A very proud Father of the Bride walked an absolutely stunning Sophie down the aisle towards her future husband. Their gorgeous daughter, Ivy, was the cutest little flower girl and made her way down the aisle to find her place at the front of the ceremony.

Luke’s mum shared some heart felt words following Sophie and Luke’s vows to each other before Luke’s little brother handed over the rings and Luke’s dad and Sophie’s mum witnessed the ceremony for them – a real family affair!

The happily married couple ventured out under grey skies for photographs and their guests braved the terrace to mingle and enjoy a drink. Canapés were served including smoked salmon rillettes on cucumber rounds and tomato, basil and feta bruschetta amongst others.

With their guests seated, Luke’s little sister took centre stage to announce the new Mr and Mrs Wassell into the room ready for the wedding breakfast. The couple had chosen to donate to Macmillan Cancer Care on behalf of all of their guests and each guest had a pin badge waiting for them on their table alongside a lovely keepsake of their name cut out of wood.

The room was beautifully decorated with hessian bunting and chair sashes and fairy lights throughout from KWF styling. Giant lit letters stood on the stage as a backdrop to the dance floor ready for the party later on!

The menu was befitting to the weather as guests were served their choice of either sausages and mash with vegetables and lashings of onion gravy or roasted chicken supreme with stuffing and roast potatoes. Dessert was either apple crumble with custard or chocolate and salted caramel tart and little Ivy was very pleased with her special ice cream sundae.

With a glass of fizz poured, it was time for the speeches and the Groom and Best Men to compete over who has the most embarrassing photographs of each other for the big screen!

Additional guests joined Sophie and Luke to party into the evening and watched as the newlyweds cut their wedding cake before taking to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. Sophie also had a special dance with her dad before the dance floor filled as the band and the house DJ took it in turns to crank up the tunes.

There were freshly cooked pizzas from the wood burning stove for guests to nibble on during the party and fresh, hot doughnuts for something sweet.

Mr and Mrs Wassell (or should that be Mrs & Mrs Wassell :’)) we hope that you continue to make each other as happy as you clearly were on your wedding day and wish you and Ivy every happiness for the future x x
