Mr & Mrs McMahon's special day with a bespoke menu
Posted on 23 March 2019
The Southwood tradition of burying a sausage the night before your wedding to guarantee good weather most certainly worked for our couple yesterday as the warm spring sunshine pushed it’s way through the clouds giving our couple a beautifully mild and calm day for their wedding!
Three months of planning was all it took for Marie and Leo to pull together the most wonderful of wedding days ?? Our super organised couple always had a clear idea of what they wanted and had some great ways of personalising their day to make it truly theirs!
With guests in their seats and the music playing, Marie’s brother Adam led the bridal party down the aisle with the gorgeous little Mollie closely followed by bridesmaids Mandy and Sharon. Our Groom Leo’s heart was sure to have skipped a beat when he saw the gorgeous Marie coming down the aisle, just like it had the first time her had seen her! A beautiful ceremony entailed with readings from those closest to them and before they knew it, they were announced as the new Mr & Mrs McMahon to Queen’s ‘You’re my best friend’ which we caught the couple singing to each other as they celebrated with a glass of fizz!
Everyone made their way to the rear terrace and gardens for a glass or two alongside some delicious canapes carefully chosen by our couple including one of our favourites of maple and bacon pancake stack – yum yum!
Inside the barn, the final touches were put in place for the wedding breakfast! KWF had beautifully decorated the tables with candelabras and plenty of candlelight which went beautifully with the added fairy lights through the barn and their floral sashes added a splash of colour too. Our couple had also included mini succulent favours for everyone to take home and a quiz for each table to see who knew our couple the best! Tables had been thoughtfully named after places special to the couple including Edgefield where our couple had gotten engaged ??
Before guests tucked into their three-course meal, they were treated to a wonderfully intimate blessing including readings from family members - such a lovely personal touch to include on their special day! A bespoke choice of starters were on offer for guests, taking inspiration from our couple’s engagement meal, including a delicious offering of roasted cauliflower and cashew nut, chilli, sesame and coriander or scotch egg with piccalilli and crackling! Ricotta stuffed chicken breast followed this before a trio of yummy desserts which had been chosen by Leo and Marie at their menu tasting!
After a quick photo or two taking advantage of the Southwood sunset, everyone settled down for the speeches from Marie’s Dad Alan and the couple themselves. Tears and laughter filled the barn as everyone celebrated again the union of Mr and Mrs McMahon!
The arrival of the evening guests brought the final formalities of the day including the cutting of the cake and their first dance as a married couple before our in house DJ got everyone up dancing!
In answer to one of our couple’s quiz questions, it was fish and chips on the menu (another reminder of their engagement meal for our couple!) for the evening – the perfect snack for an evening of dancing ??
Congratulations Marie and Leo, it has been lovely to get to know you both over the past few months and also to be a part of your special day! We wish you all the best for your future together – may it be filled with an eternity of happiness and laughter! xx
