Mr & Mrs McDowell

Posted on 22 February 2016

Yesterday the snow clouds cleared and bright sunshine shone through ready for our glamorous bride to marry her handsome groom.

The Cartshed Lodge was alive with activity as all the girls got ready together including the tiny little ones comparing their sparkly fairy dresses. Glitter and sparkle were everywhere including the lovely bridesmaids and the stunning bride in her 20s style gown and furry stole. With every hair in place and perfect make up thanks to Emily at Love Moi Make Up, it was time…

With all thirteen attendants lined up and ready to go, Sarah’s extremely professional Ushers (we would like them to come back for our next wedding please Sarah!) were waiting to open the doors for the wedding party to make their way down the aisle. After a last minute rush of emotion, Sarah was escorted towards her husband-to-be by her very proud stepfather.

The ceremony included readings from Sarah and Ian’s nearest and dearest and the ever-awesome Bill Downs was slightly upstaged by Harry and Rosie singing a number for everyone to enjoy.

The new Mr and Mrs McDowell were determined to make the most of the sunshine, canapes and drinks-a-plenty were served on the terrace, which was just as well as it allowed guests to enjoy the fly-by of Tornado jets that we had organised especially for Ian ;)

With confetti thrown, it was time to head back into the barn ahead of the speeches. The barn had been transformed with sparkle in every last corner thanks to silver glitter chair sashes from KWF Stylists and the most gorgeous silver glitter place cards, table plan and table names courtesy of Crystal Couture Wedding Stationary. There were also individually decorated goody bags for the VIP children’s tables and charity donations as favours for the adults.

A beautiful vintage step ladder was decorated with memories and photographs of those not able to join Sarah and Ian on their big day and it was clear that their presence was still very much felt by all.

With everyone seated, a very proud stepfather spoke of his beautiful stepdaughter and his new son-in-law before the groom took to the microphone to thank friends and family who had supported the happy couple; and both bride and groom had words for each other and for Harry. The best men were very well behaved, sharing only a couple of embarrassing tales about our well behaved groom (well apparently the real story was available at the bar later at the cost of a pint!).

With speeches completed, it was time for Grace before a winter warming wedding breakfast of sausages and mash followed by apple crumble with custard.

As the adults enjoyed their coffee, the children were soon warming up the dance floor with their glow sticks and the House DJ got the official seal of approval from this discerning crowd – phew!

With their beautiful cake cut for all to enjoy and the most perfectly romantic first dance under their belts, all that was left for this couple to do was cut loose on the dance floor and enjoy pizza and doughnuts.

Mr and Mrs McDowell are one of the most organised and lovely couples that we have had the pleasure of working alongside and together with Harry make the most perfect family. We wish you all the happiness in the world together x x
