Mr & Mrs Brundle Diamond wedding anniversary

Posted on 29 July 2018

On the 19th July 1958 Derek and Pat became the new Mr & Mrs Brundle, and yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting a lunch for them surrounded by all of their nearest and dearest family and friends to celebrate 60 years of happy marriage.

The weather may have been on the dull side but with the help from KWF the inside of the barn was brightened by sweet jam jars filled with the perfect seasonal blooms.

As guests began to arrive they congratulated Derek and Pat on their diamond wedding anniversary and spent some time reminiscing on the special day itself by looking at the wedding photo album, the lovely collage that their Granddaughter had carefully pieced together, and even the hymn book from their wedding 60 years ago!

Whilst everybody was inside the barn catching up with old friends our Chef’s were outside preparing the hog for all to enjoy, and we can safely say that it went down a treat as there were empty plates all around!

A sweet dessert of strawberries and cream shortly followed for everybody to help themselves to and if that wasn’t enough to satisfy peoples sweet tooth, guests were soon welcomed to grab a slice of cake from our cake table.

To draw things to a close we heard a few special words from Austin, Derek’s brother. Austin had the room in fits of laughter during his toast when he said “Most people deserve a medal when reaching 60 years of marriage but Pat deserves two!” By the reaction of the guests it sounded like Austin was right! Peter, Derek and Pat’s son, was up next where he presented Pat’s three bridesmaids with bouquets of flowers, shortly followed by a few words from the man himself, Mr Brundle.

It has been a pleasure getting to know the both of you and your family over the last couple of months. After having worked alongside you to help plan your celebrations it is clear to see that the most important thing to a long-lasting marriage is happiness, laughter and love. We wish you many more happy years to come! :)
