Lucie & Tom's wedding day

Posted on 15 June 2019

The traditional Southwood sausage burial strikes again! Legend has it that if you burry a sausage on the grounds the night before your wedding the rain will hold off all day.. and that’s exactly what happened for Lucie and Tom’s big day yesterday here at Southwood Hall ??.

After a lovely service at St John’s cathedral in Norwich we were joined by all of Lucie and Tom’s nearest and dearest to celebrate their new partnership in style! Lucie looked gorgeous in a simple white dress with a plunging v neck at the back, the bridesmaids sported sequined dusky pink dresses and the groom and his groomsmen looked very smart in their navy suits.

Guests were greeted with a selection of drinks before they made their way around the back to enjoy the canapes that Lucie and Tom had carefully picked out and enjoyed the sounds of the phonix duo! Bride and Groom made their grand entrance around the back terrace as their closest friends and family gushed to congratulate them!

Inside the barn was elegantly decorated with gin bottles that Lucie and Tom had selected. Sprigs of flowers were added that complimented the stunning floral displays provided by Swaffham and Fakenham florists perfectly. Wooden name tags and strands of eucalyptus were placed on the each table setting that flattered their scheme effortlessly.

After guests took their seats and a toast of prosecco was at the ready, the Bride and Groom were welcomed back into the room before the Father of the Bride took to the floor to kick off the speeches. His speech was filled with touching words about the happy couple through the past and present. Next it was time for the best man to say a few words, speaking of how himself and Tom met before Tom took centre stage to thank friends, family and his beautiful new wife ??.

The wedding breakfast was then served – a delicious offering of Broadland braised beef was followed by either chocolate tart or traditional British strawberries and cream. Yum! After the meal, with cameras at the ready Bride and Groom came together to cut the stunning four tier cake. Guests then naturally made their way outside to make the most of the balmy evening whilst the goals were then pulled out for a highly competitive of football.

Chefs were busy outside as the pizza oven was fired up ready for guests to chose their own toppings and enjoy a delicious warming pizza followed by the hot rolled doughnuts. A photo booth was set up under the barbeque lodge to capture some everlasting laughter and memories!

Half time was then called during the football match giving Bride and Groom a chance to slip inside to share their first dance as their closest friends and family watched on. Guests then joined the couple as our house DJ blasted out some classic tunes that powered a night of partying.

Lucie and Tom we have had an absolute pleasure hosting your big day and we hope you enjoyed celebrating just as much! Congratulations Mr & Mrs Chivers, we wish you the best of luck in your future together and hope that you have the most amazing honeymoon in Bali (we’re not jealous… at all……). Keep in touch! Xx
