Lauren & James

The day had finally come for Lauren and James to tie the knot and become man and wife!
With what started out as quite a damp day, nobody was sure whether the ceremony would be held inside or out but by the time the clock struck 2 the rain had held off giving Lauren the chance to have the outside ceremony had she had dreamt of ??.
James patiently awaited the arrival of his bride at the end of the aisle. As the sounds of the phantom of the opera filled the air the flower girls and bridesmaids elegantly made their way down the aisle before it was time for Lauren to make her way to her soon-to-be husband, James.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom made their way back up the aisle to a scattering of confetti, followed by their closest friends and family. A deluxe terrace cooler was on offer giving guests a selection of delicious beverages to choose from. Lauren and James had also chosen to have a bottle of gin available with tonic waters and a variety of garnishes for those who would prefer something a little different ??. Chef then unveiled his impressive canapé snack ladders to which guests flocked to grab themselves a yummy bite to eat.
Inside, the barn was decorated by the ever so talented KWF who had been busy decorating tables with their stunning log vases filled with gorgeous floral displays in colours of burgundy, aubergine and ivory! Wooden tea light holders complimented the centrepieces and our couple, along with help from mother of the bride, Jackie had placed a pine cone place card at every setting that tied the whole country scheme together :). Warm twinkly fairy lights, KWF’s LOVE and Mr & Mrs letter added the perfect level of warmth into the barn - we’re sure it’ll make for some gorgeous pictures!
Lauren had a clear vision in her head as to what she wanted to be served for her wedding breakfast. Working alongside Chef, they managed to create a wonderful bespoke afternoon tea selection that was displayed on our circular mezze boards. A selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pies, tomato & pesto tart, warm baby new potatoes, cheese & crackers (the list could go on!) caught guests’ eyes as they were presented to the room alongside pots of tea and dessert tea stands! A wonderful twist on our usual afternoon tea offering and something that our couple had really managed to personalise to their own tastes! :).
A toast of prosecco was poured before it was time for speeches. The room first heard from the Father of the Bride, Mark who took upon his role to thank everybody for coming and share stories of his beautiful daughter, Lauren. Next up was the man of the hour, James who spoke touching words of and on behalf of his beautiful new wife. Speeches were rounded off by the best man who had everybody in the room in fits of laughter and even took the time to share around a few photos for everybody to enjoy ??.
After formalities were completed, guests headed outside to make the most of the evening, admire KWF’s stunning festoon lights and even enjoy a game or two of wedding beer pong. Our bride and groom had thought of everything!!
After making their way inside and being greeted by their evening guests it was time for the penultimate tradition. When we say tradition.. what we mean is a clever twist on an old tradition. Lauren and James had opted to serve Southwood’s “donut mind if I do” board in place of a wedding cake! The board was wrapped in gold ribbon as guests gathered round to watch the bride and groom slice the ribbon and unveil the donuts ??. This was shortly followed by our happy couple sharing their first dance together before being joined by guests to celebrate in style.
There was no rest for the kitchen as they prepared and served their delicious offering of fish, sausage and halloumi chip cones which, alongside tunes from our house DJ made for the perfect evening!
Lauren and James it has been an absolute pleasure to host your big day and we wish you all the best of luck and happiness in your bright future together. Congratulations to the new happy couple, we hope you have the most amazing time in South Africa!!
