Late summer sun for the lucky Bride & Groom

Posted on 29 September 2018

Summer returned for the day yesterday for the lovely Darren and Hannah’s wedding day.

There were blue skies and fluffy white clouds as Hannah completed her preparations in the Cartshed Lodge before departing for the Salhouse Church ceremony in a beautiful vintage car.

The new Mr and Mrs Hewitt’s nearest and dearest were greeted on their return with a refreshing drink and the chance to enjoy the sunshine on the terrace while they awaited the newlyweds.

Prawn and lemon mayonnaise bruschetta were one of a selection of canapes served as the gorgeous bride and her groom mingled and welcomed their guests in between having photographs taken in the gardens.

It was soon time for guests to be seated for the wedding breakfast and a chance to admire all of the hard work that
Hannah and Darren had put into organising every last detail of their day. Beautiful bridal flowers and styling from KWF were coordinated with Hannah’s hand-crafted centrepieces and other details like the stunning post box to gorgeous effect. As guests took their seats, they also found cute little boxes filled with treats as favours and for the bridal party there was a lucky sixpence to remember the day by.

The newly-weds made quite an entrance with the room erupting as they danced through the barn to ‘Eye of the Tiger’ – this fun-loving couple are clearly starting as they mean to go on!

Having attended a menu tasting with Chef earlier in the year, this couple knew exactly what to expect from their wedding breakfast and their guests weren’t disappointed. A perfectly seasonal menu of Kilner potted gammon followed by slow-cooked Broadland beef braised in Woodforde’s ale and a trio of desserts was enjoyed so much that our Chef’s received an impromptu round of applause for their efforts – we think we may have seen them blush a little bit!

A glass of prosecco was poured to toast the speeches as Father of the Bride shared some stories from Hannah’s childhood and wished the couple well. A non-traditional, surprise slideshow dedicated to the groom from the bride was next and was a hard act for Darren to follow as he took to the microphone to share his love for his new wife. The final instalment came from Darren’s best man who employed volunteers to display giant photographs of Darren at various points in his life, much to the amusement of the room!

With more of their friends and family joining them into the evening, Darren and Hannah cut their fabulous cake before taking to the dance floor as our House DJ played their first dance. The best man had already warned us of
Darren’s love for Country and Western music so their wonderfully personal choice of track was perfect as they danced an incredible choreographed dance. Strictly Come Dancing eat your heart out!!

Mr and Mrs Hewitt had chosen our famous Sausage Sizzle table for their evening catering. A selection of locally produced sausages including the delicious ‘Norwich sausage’ made with Colman’s mustard and Woodforde’s ale were sizzled over fire bowls for guests to help themselves and top with homemade relishes. Of course, as the party really got going, that smell could mean only one thing…freshly cooked hot sugared doughnuts to enjoy – the perfect end to the perfect evening.

Hannah and Darren, we wish you all the best for the future as Mr and Mrs Hewitt. Have a wonderful time exploring Rome x x
