Dr & Mrs Mitchell
Posted on 27 June 2017
We have had so much fun planning with Kathryn and Alex and were thrilled when their big day finally arrived yesterday!
Our lovely couple had always wanted an outside ceremony, and although the weather may not have been perfect, the rain held off (just about!) to allow their dream to come true. Kathryn and Alex have always liked to do things slightly differently so decided to enter their ceremony together hand in hand. Alex even managed to get a sneak peek of his Bride through the gate to the Secret Garden ahead of the ceremony!
Helpful Groomsmen, Chris and James, helped guests find their seats in anticipation of the arrival of the Bridal party. KWF styled the ceremony table with a gorgeous floral garland complete with romantic candles in hurricane vases, foliage garlands adorned the front pillars of the Rotunda as well as periwinkle blue chair sashes to add a splash of colour.
Super cute Page Boy, Arthur, led the way with his gorgeous Mum followed by Bella, Christina and Claire who all looked picture perfect in their floor length gowns. It was then time for Kathryn and Alex to make their way across the terrace and finally become man and wife! Arthur confidently gave his dinosaur reading and received a standing ovation (quite rightly so!) before the new ‘Mr and Mrs Mitchell’ were announced and the whoops and cheers filled the gardens!
Our Southwood styled cocktail bar was soon open for guests to help themselves including Kathryn’s personal favourite - elderflower and mint Daiquiri (good choice ??)! Chef served a delicious array of canapes including his new Southwood salt beef crostini with truffle mayonnaise and pickled vegetables - how delicious! With everyone fuelled guests enjoyed competing on our inflatable assault course – the perfect summer addition!
KWF had also been busy in the barn decorating the guest tables with silver candelabras and trailing ivy along with fairy light bunting hung from the lower beams. They also provided Kathryn’s stunning hand-picked bridal bouquet, buttonholes for the gents and additional styling for the Kilner bar. Lavender was included throughout their day and we even made sure the lavender was in full bloom so that the barn complimented their scheme perfectly.
As the black clouds soon approached, Chief Bridesmaid, Ruth, ensured that everyone was ready for that all-important confetti shot before dashing inside to avoid the showers!
The wedding breakfast was enjoyed (a classic summer choice of a barbecue went down a treat!) before the toast drinks were poured and it was time for the highly anticipated speeches. Ruth was up first and shared a beautifully emotional speech about how proud she is of her best friend! Chris was up next and planned to share many embarrassing stories about our Groom but quite honestly, he couldn’t say a bad word about him! Alex went on to tell everyone just how lucky is to have Kathryn as his new wife!
With the formalities of the day complete and a slice of the yummy cake devoured, our house DJ set up for the night of partying ahead. Close friends of the Bride and Groom had even prepared a surprise dance for them which had everyone in fits of laughter as Alex danced away to One Direction – You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful!!
The night was filled with dancing, photos and of course plenty of pizza and sweet treats! Our couple even set up their own ‘video booth’ complete with props so guests could leave their own messages for the new Mr and Mrs – such a lovely idea ??
It has been such an honour to plan your wedding with you both, and to meet and host all of your friends and family too! We hope you have the most amazing honeymoon and know you will have a lifetime of happiness together ?? xx
