A safari wedding!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting Lauren and Will’s African themed wedding here at Southwood Hall. After first meeting over ten years ago and later rekindling their relationship it was time for all their friends and family to gather round to see Lauren and Will become Mr & Mrs Bird!

Inside Coronation Barn everyone took their seats in anticipation for Lauren’s arrival. Will stood at the top of the aisle with his best man and Dad Mark and usher Jamie who only a few years ago had stood in Will’s exact spot for his wedding to the gorgeous Bec! As the music began the bridesmaids began their walk down the aisle along with Bec’s gorgeous daughter Grace. It was then Lauren’s turn down the aisle and she had the pleasure of walking down the aisle with our couple’s adorable son Thomas!

After a rather tearful ceremony, Mr and Mrs Bird were cheered down the aisle and greeted with a glass of fizz on the front steps. With the patio heaters on guests gathered on the rear terrace for a big group photo and Chef’s selection of canapes proved a welcome treat for all to enjoy.

Inside the barn our couple’s dream of an African themed wedding had been brought to life with the help of their family and friends! The tables looked awesome with their exotic centrepieces complete with animals creeping out of the undergrowth! Safari animal place card favours and plenty of candlelight added the final touch to the tables. We also spied their table plan which had been lovingly made by Will’s Dad Mark and what an amazing job he did – we are sure you will agree!

We also loved their little finger print tree which even featured our Southwood swing for Lauren and Will to keep as a memento of their special day!

Before the wedding breakfast we had a trio of speeches from Lauren’s brother Ryan, our Groom Will and best man Mark! We loved hearing all the little stories about our couple’s journey together and it was clear for all to see just how important their family are to them!

Table carved roast turkey and a delicious vanilla cheesecake were on offer today which guests enjoyed whilst The Lion King played in the background on the big screen ??

Before their evening guests arrived, our couple headed to the rear lawns for a quick sparkler photo before returning indoors for the final formalities of the day. Chef’s chip cone selection was also on offer to keep everyone fuelled for a night of dancing!

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Bird on your special day, it has been a pleasure to get to know you both and we wish you both along with Thomas all the best for your future together xx
